Chris Barber & Dr. John “Mardi Gras At The Marquee” – Reissue on blue vinyl
After the launch of the CD around the middle of the 1980s, the record lost its importance as the most essential sound carrier in the music market. This trend was further reinforced by the digital access options that then followed (online streaming). Record sales declined drastically, and ultimately it was repeatedly pronounced dead. The CD also suffered a similar fate. But the record has survived: initially as a niche product, but for more than 10 years records have been sold with an upward trend – a development that was not thought possible for a long time. The record is back and celebrating its comeback.
For many music lovers and listeners, the record offers the opportunity to consciously and purposefully enjoy or experience music; for collectors, records are offered in elaborate packaging or in richly equipped boxes. New and re-released records are released on 180 g vinyl in high quality. Coloured pressings are particularly popular. To increase the specialness, they are often offered in strictly limited and numbered editions. It has simply become “cult” to go back to records for music.
The double LP by Chris Barber & Dr. John “Mardi Gras At The Marquee” was originally
released in 1989 by Timeless Traditional TTD 546/547
(https://chrisbarber.net/LP-covers/mardi-gras.htm). In January 2023 the
recordings were re-released, exclusively as a double LP on blue vinyl (180 g)
individually numbered and limited to 1000 copies.
The re-released double LP can be purchased via internet
retailers as well as via well-known internet platforms.
